After construction and ageing since April, the RC mock-up is now complete and ready for testing.
From 15 to 18 June 2025, Mariano Di Domenico and Paolo Ricci (University of Naples) participated in the 10th ECCOMAS Thematic Conference on Computational Methods in Structural Dynamics and Earthquake Engineering, held in Rhodes. Their contribution, “Shaking-table tests on 3D scaled RC structure for the assessment of floor response spectra,” highlighted the design of experimental tests for seismic assessment of floor response spectra on the scaled RC structure developed within the NEWTON project.
Starting from June, the University of Genoa’s research unit performed some preliminary tests for the mechanical characterization of masonry components and brick masonry wallets and triplets. Conducted at the Laboratory of Structures and Materials of the Department of Civil, Chemical, and Environmental Engineering (DICCA), the tests focused on flexural and compressive behaviour of mortar, compressive behaviour of bricks, and compressive and shear bond behaviour of brick masonry.
In April, the construction of the RC mock-up has started in the building company’s facility. The University of Naples Federico II research unit is monitoring the work every day!
By February, both 1:3 URM and RC mock-ups have been completely designed, construction materials were ordered and ready to use.
