NEWTON is organized into five Work Packages (WPs), linked together as conceptually sketched in the flow chart.

WP1 - Seismic input definition on NSCs: numerical and experimental evidence and review of methods prescribed by codes

Task 1.1 – Literature review of past numerical and experimental studies

Task 1.2 – Review of codes methods for the computation of the NSCs seismic demand

WP2 - Shaking table tests and dynamic identification data on scaled prototypes of ordinary buildings

Task 2.1 - Design and realization of specimens

Task 2.2 - Experimental tests

WP3 – Numerical simulations and validation of tools for the FS definition in r.c. structures

Task 3.1 – Set-up and calibration of numerical models of the r.c. prototype

Task 3.2 – Numerical parametric analyses

WP4 – Numerical simulations and validation of tools for the FS definition in URM structures

Task 4.1 – Set-up and calibration of numerical models of the URM prototype

Task 4.2 – Numerical parametric analyses

WP5 – New practice-oriented procedures to compute the seismic demand in terms of FS

Task 5.1 – New practice-oriented procedures for the FS evaluation

Task 5.2 – Improvement of current seismic risk classification criteria including NSCs
